Vauxhall Astra VXR rims just so happen to be the same bolt size as the Cruze's rims! Apparently they can be had in 17" or 18"

It's a bit of an oddball bolt pattern, 5x105 probably 17".

Someone has these on a sonic. They look sick, but they aren't cheap.

I wish there were more options for the 5x105 pattern, it's pretty depressing. I'm probably just going to end up getting mine powdercoated black.

Going to a larger size wheel will only reduce your tire sidewall height. Cars are designed for a specific wheel and tire diamter, increasing wheel size means that tire size must reduce to equal the same overall diameter. So a car that offers 17, 18 and 19 inch wheels, has the same overall diameter with each different setup.

To reduce the tire-fender gap, the car would have to lowered.

I think it looks pretty good as is.

That is a strange bolt pattern. If you can drop the car a little, then this would be perfect. Although, I don't think you want to buy coilovers or springs. Or maybe you do, if you do, then hurray!

Right now my list is, in order of being done:

Tune

Wheel spacers

Borla Exhaust

Powdercoated wheels + grill surround

I'd rather spend the money on performance stuff first, then get the wheels done. Tune and spacers will be done by the end of the year, I'm thinking of getting the Borla installed at my 10,000 mile service which should be sometime next spring (tax refund money maybe?). Getting the wheels powdercoated depends on how much it costs, I got one quote for basically $100 a wheel, which isn't bad but for a purely cosmetic deal it's a bit much right now.

Makes sense. My next purchase is wheels, and jesus is it going to be expensive(I shall not disclose how much, but I will say I could get a full exhaust system for the price), I need better grip for autocross and some style points.

A tune is definitely the best bang for the buck though, especially with a turbo car. Also, be careful with powdercoating, it can morph the wheel if not done properly.

Good advice on the powdercoating. I'll be shopping around and looking for recommendations before I do it.

The tune is cheap as is, I could afford it now but I'm trying to pretend that I'm good with money and wait for the black friday sale that one of the Sonic/Cruze shops has every year.

The lack of options for our bolt pattern kind of blows, but oh well.

I've thought about getting my stock rims powdercoated gunmetal grey, but I think I might just "invest" in a new set of rims once I need new tires.

Of our limited options, I like these, the MSR Type 095:

Chevy put some cool wheels on Sonics at SEMA last year, I wish we could get some. Although now that I'm looking at it, I think they are painted MSRs

Yeah, some guy on the GT86 forums had a problem with his wheels when he powdercoated them. He pretty much got ripped apart, mostly because he blamed the wheel, and not the process. If you can, try and get them painted.

I also pretend that I am good with money. . . I am not, I just blow it all on cars.

I think you're right, if they're not the MSRs, they're really close.

I think they only come in 18", I'm leaning towards a 17" (I would prefer a bit more sidewall for potholes, winter etc.).

Regardless I got a couple years on my current tires so maybe something new will come out by then. In the mean time, I want to get some foglights (I'm trying to find some options that don't involve paying the dealer $270 for the parts alone... + shipping to Canada online is fun...) and then maybe an exhaust and then maybe some seat covers... I keep on thinking of all these new cars I could buy or I could just modify my car to where I like it and save a boatload of money for a few years (did I mention I'm cheap?).

I went the expensive route, got a new car, but now that I've started to mod it a bit I see holding on to it for a much longer time than the last one.

If you like the car, might as well put some work into it and keep it.
